Critiques are Unanimous !

Philipe Mollé, Critic for Le Devoir: "The best steak tartare in town".
Ms. Solomita, Le Journal de Montréal: "An artisian's pâté en croûte and a pike dumpling in lobster sauce. The ultimate!"
Ms. Lesley Chesterman, The Gazette: "A place I recommend. Onion soup, duck confit and chocolate fondue at their best."
Robert Beauchemin, La Presse: "Alexandre & Fils... flying high!"
Thierry Debeur, Les lettres Gastronomiques: "Three stars for this very Parisian brasserie and its consistency."

"This kind of cuisine is refreshing because although it’s not a flashy cuisine. It is still a very traditional one, on its own. This ambiance in Alexandre reflects the look of the Brasserie owned by Mr Creton who synchronizes constantly every little detail like a conductor. It needs to be said, almost all the time I have been told that the service is excellent….but this time it is true, it’s kind of reassuring too……"

Robert Beauchemin

“…. it has become a brasserie like the Parisian one but with a pub on top. And it’s one of the most beautiful décor in Montreal…with the look and the cozyness"

Citywide Favourite
“First established in 1984, Alexandre Restaurant has been a Montreal favourite both locally and across the city. It is a cafe-bistro with a terrace, two dining rooms and an English pub. The restaurant, decorated in the style of an authentic Parisian tavern, has become quite the meeting place for enthusiasts of haute cuisine, fine wine and English beer served in an elegant, yet relaxed atmosphere..”

Fairytale Setting
“Waitresses will seat diners in willow chairs on the terrace, or inside, at tables draped with white tablecloths and adorned with silver flatware. Elegant mirrors hang from the walls and the central bar glitters with the reflection of glasses and the copper tones of the draft beer and cappuccino machines. A Parisian-style street lamp lies at the foot of the staircase leading to the second floor. Upstairs, the restaurant has cleaner angles, becoming a pub by night. Guests can choose from 12 kinds of draft beer, served in front of a big screen television. A nice and warm setting for sports fan who will enjoy sipping a drink while cheering for them team! .”

Regional Delicacies
“Every three months, Alexandre Restaurant invites a talented chef to prepare some of his regional gastronomic dishes. In the past, clients have had the chance to taste some foreign specialties such as German sauerkraut and duck casserole, a typical northwestern culinary tradition. The menu also offers a variety of well prepared dishes with some particularities, depending on whether you are here to dine or lunch. For lunch, enjoy a simple yet tasty meal such as the fish and chips or the omelet Alexandre. For late diners, the special menu, served from 10 pm till 2 am offers includes dishes such as perch filet or duck foie gras. The wine list at Alexandre is also exceptional and allows customers to order their choice by the glass. For dessert, the chocolate fondant, a small warm cake bursting with chocolate, is a traditional choice. ! ”

"Not only the place is quite beautiful and the food excellent, but also the fries are worth the price of admission all by themselves"

Helen Rochester

“Beginning with a scrumptious onion soup topped with the requisite oozing raft of gratinéed Swiss cheese and beef-stock-soaked croutons, I then scarf up a delicious duck terrine. Set atop a bed of delicate Puy lentils, this warm terrine wows, thanks to both its crisp and melting texture. Our waiter said it is one of the restaurant's best sellers, which doesn't surprise me one bit.”

“Some French restaurants can be intimidating, rather than making you feel welcome. Not so with Alexandre & Fils! Even a couple of ragged-looking guys like me and my teenage son, new in town and straight out of 2-plus hours of airport hassles were welcomed as any other customer, no matter how chic! This place is one of few higher-end restaurants...
